XLRI Delhi-NCR & CGEIL host ‘NextGen Women in STEM’ to mentor and inspire young women, bridging the gender gap in STEM.

XLRI Delhi-NCR & CGEIL, in collaboration with the British High Commission New Delhi, Chevening Alumni, and Oxford University colleagues, successfully hosted ‘NextGen Women in STEM – Building Tomorrow’s Leaders’ on February 21, 2025. This landmark event aimed to empower young women in science, technology, engineering, and mathematics (STEM) by equipping them with essential knowledge, skills, and mentorship opportunities. Furthermore, it created an inspiring platform where participants could connect with industry leaders and gain invaluable insights.

Encouraging Women to Excel in STEM Careers

As a leader in gender inclusivity and leadership development, XLRI Delhi-NCR & CGEIL remains dedicated to fostering equitable opportunities for women. Consequently, the event brought together over 250 young women from rural and tier 2 and 3 cities, offering them the resources needed to thrive in STEM careers. Additionally, it provided a unique opportunity for aspiring professionals to engage directly with experts and explore various career paths.

Distinguished Chevening alumni from academia, industry, and policy sectors shared valuable insights into the evolving STEM landscape. Moreover, key sessions covered emerging fields such as artificial intelligence, climate change, healthcare, entrepreneurship, and leadership. As a result, participants gained a comprehensive understanding of future opportunities and challenges.

Industry Experts Inspire the Next Generation

Renowned speakers, including Anjali Garg, Regional Co-Lead for Climate Finance Advisory, Ayushi Mishra, COO and Co-Founder of Drona Maps, and Bharati Ghosh, National Spokesperson of BJP, shared their expertise. Additionally, they enriched discussions and motivated participants through real-life success stories.

Fr. K.S. Casimir, Director of XLRI Delhi-NCR, emphasized the need for such initiatives. He stated, “At XLRI, we commit to creating an inclusive environment where women can excel in STEM. Through CGEIL, we drive research and education that empower women to break barriers. Moreover, we ensure that every participant leaves with newfound confidence and inspiration.”

Dr. John Hoffmire, Research Associate at the University of Oxford, highlighted the importance of investing in women’s education and leadership. He noted, “Investing in women’s education and leadership in STEM fuels innovation and economic growth. Additionally, initiatives like this pave the way for young women to succeed in competitive industries.”

Fostering a Culture of Inclusivity and Innovation

The event facilitated networking, knowledge-sharing, and direct engagement with thought leaders who had studied in the UK on a Chevening award. Moreover, sessions on women’s leadership, digital transformation, and entrepreneurship provided valuable guidance for overcoming challenges in STEM fields. As a result, participants left with a clearer vision for their futures and the confidence to take the next steps in their careers.
