Who can Apply for UNESCO International Literacy Prizes 2024?
- Eligible applicants include individuals, institutions, and organizations actively promoting literacy.
- Programs must demonstrate ongoing operations and a track record of innovative literacy work spanning at least two years.
- Previous recipients of the UNESCO International Literacy Prizes within the last five years are ineligible.
How to Apply?
- Start by requesting a user account, to access the online application form.
- Complete and submit the electronic application form in either English or French to UNESCO’s Secretariat.
- Applications must be channeled through the National Commission for UNESCO of the applicant’s respective country by 5th July 2024 (midnight, Paris time).
- If applying through an international NGO with official UNESCO relations, include project details and request a nomination letter from the NGO. Attach this letter to the electronic application form by 19th July 2024.
- Ensure all submissions comply with the specified deadlines and requirements for consideration.
For Member States and NGOs:
National Commissions: Receive email notifications through your UNESCO account for applicant nominations. Review received submissions and nominate up to three applications each for the UNESCO Confucius Prize for Literacy and the UNESCO King Sejong Literacy Prize. Submit your nominations with written recommendations by 19th July 2024 (midnight, Paris time) using the provided link in the notification email.
NGOs: When requested, evaluate candidate applications and issue a nomination letter directly to the applicant. They can attach this letter to their electronic application form as required.
