GD Goenka University’s School of Law successfully hosted the VII GD Goenka – CIArb (India) International Commercial Arbitration Moot Competition, highlighting IP Arbitration in the Pharmaceuticals Sector. This prestigious event saw participation from 34 teams and 102 students from top institutions such as Government Law College, Mumbai, National Law Institute University, Bhopal, and National Law School of India University, Bangalore.

Grand Inaugural Ceremony
The competition commenced with an insightful inaugural ceremony, where Honourable Justice N. Kotiswar Singh from the Supreme Court of India served as the Chief Guest. Additionally, Honourable Justice Tejas Karia from the Delhi High Court graced the event as the Guest of Honour. Their presence and valuable insights motivated participants to push their limits.
Memorable Valedictory Ceremony
The valedictory ceremony was equally remarkable, featuring Honourable Justice A. Muhamed Mustaque from the Kerala High Court as the Chief Guest. Esteemed Guests of Honour included Honourable Justice B. P. Singh, Retired Supreme Court Judge, Mr. Anil Xavier, President of the Indian Institute of Arbitration & Mediation, and Dr. Lalit Bhasin, President of the Society of Indian Law Firms.

Emphasizing the importance of moot court competitions, Mr. Nipun Goenka, Managing Director of GD Goenka Group, stated, “At GD Goenka, we are dedicated to providing students with real-world learning experiences. Designed to provide an in-depth understanding of arbitration, the CIArb-GDGU Arbitration Moot Competition prepared participants for real-world legal challenges. Through drafting memorials, navigating procedural complexities, and engaging in arbitration practices, students gained essential skills for their careers.
Competition Results and Recognition
The 2025 competition concluded with Delhi Metropolitan Education securing the Winner’s title, while Dr. B.R. Ambedkar National Law University, Sonepat, emerged as the Runner-Up. Individual accolades included Best Speaker for Sanjana Kamble (NLSIU Bangalore) and Best Researcher for Sudhanshu Gangurde (Symbiosis Law School, Pune). The Best Memorial award went to National Law Institute University, Bhopal.

Judged by over 50 legal experts, including arbitrators, Supreme Court advocates, and a sitting High Court judge, the competition provided unparalleled exposure. Key knowledge partners, such as CIArb, ICDR, IIAM, and BDN Chambers, contributed significantly to its success.
